    The letter "J"
I've just realised that the names of all fictional captains begin with the letter "J":

    - JAMES T Kirk (Star Trek Original)
    - JEAN-Luc Picard (Star Trek TNG)
    - Kathryn JANEWAY (Star Trek Voryager)
    - JONATHAN Archer (Star Trek Enterprise)
    - A slight deviation, but BenJAMIN Sisco (Star Trek DS9)
    - JOHN Sheridan (Babylon 5)
    - JACK Sinclair (Babylon 5)
    - JACK O'Neill (Stargate SG-1)
    - JOHN Shepherd (Stargate Atlantis)
    - JACK Sparrow (Pirates)

Is the letter "J" a letter of leadership and power?

    Error
Today I had planned to go to a meeting in Richmond. With the idiotic wisdom of someone who knows she has no sense of direction, I decided to cut across Wimbledon Common on my bicycle.

I was then lost on the Common for a period of one and a half hours.

I was eventually saved through recognition of a path I had run along from the rugby club. I found my way back to the rugby club, and from there to home. The whole Richmond meeting idea had to be abandoned for there was no way to get to Richmond :(

I conclude that the only way out of Wimbledon Common is via the rugby club. There must be one other way in as I didn't enter via the rugby club, but that must be the only way out for if there were another one, I'd have been able to find it in an hour and a half, wouldn't I?

    WRFC v The Base Elements
We have in our possession various videos taken during the course of Andy's and my wedding celebrations. Five of these contain musical performances. Oh good, you may say, some recordings of the Base Elements during their inaugural gig, or perhaps of some of the many excellent mucisicans who performed during the ceremony.

But in fact, not one of the video contributors chose to shoot these superior musicians. Instead, in all their glory, are the Wimbledon Ladies Rugby Team performing: "Don't Stop Believin'" (obviously a favoured rendition to that performed earlier in the evening by the Base Elements), "Sweet Child of Mine" and "On the Common".

    So the results are in:

    The Water Fights

Can a river outdo the sea
In trying to be the greatest?
    The sea grows angry
    Fights the river
    And floods the river out.

Now the river is the greatest
    After that fierce fight
    Ships and ferries
    Fishermen's boats
    Sail on rivers now.

Then sudenly the stream joins in
    Decides to challenge the river
    The river surges
    Draining it
    With the outgrowing tide.

Now the stream is the greatest
    After that large fight
    Ships and ferries
    Fishermen's boats
    Sail on streams now.

Now the rain thinks a lot
Doesn't like things as they are
    Starts to pour
    Washes away
The stream and river and sea.

    Make use of the snow
    That's glittering bright
    In the nice sunshine
And by the light of the moon.

    Play with the snow
    Or clear it away
    Do what you want
    In your own garden.

    The wind is howling
    Through the trees
    The birds are fleeing
    Because of the cold.

The snow is a white sheet
    That makes you cold
    We'll all throw snowballs
    Until we get soaking wet.

    There is a blizzard
    There's too much snow
    It is too deep
And so we can't get to school.

    And...

    ...so

    It is so cold
    It is such fun
    Enjoy it all
    Everyone!
    The trees are like skeletons
    In the morning dew
    People throw snowballs
    Bu that won't upset you!

    HUGH
I've just put a poster of Hugh Laurie above my bed. But I haven't used much blue tack in the hope that tomorrow morning I can update my Facebook status to say that Hugh Laurie fell on me in the night.

    courier new
In a New York moment, as I was setting off for the airport, I realised that I had left my luggage in the car of a friend who was now on her way to a whisky festival.

The subject line is misleading, as in the end no courier new was needed, as Elmari kindly rushed back to deliver the luggage (without stopping off to buy a book on the way).

    Lions and biscuits
Today I have been cuddling lions and watching a nice warthog family on a Sunday afternoon walk.

In other news, I still haven't finished my packet of biscuits.

    Biscuit riddle.
There is an alternative explanation to my packet of biscuits having an infinite number of biscuits in it. It could be that my appetite is less fewer smaller in South Africa. But that just seems so unlikely.

    Biscuits
Here in South Africa, they have packets of ginger nuts which last for an infinite amount of time! Well, at least one packet anyway. I've never found even one in the UK.

A different way to use Skype
I could see but not hear Daddy and he could hear but not see me. So I did the out-loud talking and Daddy held up bits of paper with messages written on them :))

    Meanwhile, Mummy AIMed me.

    Isn't communication great?

    New bicycle discovery!
I've discovered that a bad thing to do when hurtling down a mountain on a bicycle at a scarily fast speed is to break. This causes the bike to do what it is meant to do when the breaks are activated: stop. However, this does not cause the person riding the bike to stop. Instead, the person riding the bike continues to hurtle down the mountain. It is of course fortuitous that both a helmet and a back protector were part of the mountain biking package.

    SO: Fun was definitely had.

MORAL: Do not break. Hurtling whilst on a bike is better for you than hurtling off a bike.
